This is not a resolution. This is not a diet. This is about feeling good This challenge offers you accountability, a community of like-minded people, access to fitness trainers, structure, fun, and motivation.  

Why an 8-week challenge? Well, we say “why not?”. But in all seriousness, doing anything for 60 days creates not only new habits and builds consistency, but it also creates sustainability.  

Challenge Duration: 8 weeks
Initial Weigh-In Dates: January 10-16, 2022
Challenge Start Date: January 17, 2022
Challenge End Date:  March 13, 2022
Final Weigh-In Dates: March 14-16, 2022

Participants receive as part of the Weight Loss Challenge:

    • Two free Inbody Scans (one at the start and one at the end of the Challenge)
    • One workout towel
    • Weekly Support emails
    • Opportunity to compete for monetary prizes as described below.

Winners will be announced on or about March 17, 2022.

Top 3 participants in each category who lost the greatest percentage of weight.
Top 3 participants in each category for total weight lost.

There are two categories in the Weight Loss Challenge: Men and Women

Weight Loss Challenge participants are eligible to be awarded in both the Total Weight Lost and Percentage of Weight Lost categories.


From January 10-16, 2022, qualifying YMCA of Orange County members may enter by going to their registered YMCA of Orange County branch, fully and accurately completing the entry form, and completing the initial weigh-ins and other activities.

In order to establish consistency and accuracy for the Challenge, the InBody machine will be used to determine weight for each weigh-in and possible tiebreakers.  The official initial and final weigh-ins must be conducted with an InBody Scan at your registered YMCA branch on the specified dates and times, which include:

Initial Weigh-In Dates: January 10-16, 2022
Final Weigh-In Dates: March 14-16, 2022

Weigh-ins from other sources will not be accepted for purposes of determining winners.

In the event of a tie between two or more participants in either Percentage of Weight Lost or Total Weight Lost, body fat percentage will be used to break the tie.  YMCA staff will determine, in its sole discretion, which participant had greater body fat percentage reduction from initial to final check-in as detailed on the InBody scan.
