The Power of Numbers: YMCA of Orange County’s Impact in 2024

CategoriesUncategorized

At the YMCA of Orange County, impact isn’t just measured in numbers—it’s measured in lives changed, communities strengthened, and futures brightened. As a community, the Y celebrates milestones, embraces growth, and works to build a stronger foundation for the future. Here’s a look at what the Y accomplished in 2024:

Empowering Children and Families

Last year, 31,905 children found a space to learn, play, and grow at the Y through our Child & Youth Development programs. The programs provide safe, enriching environments before and after school, in preschool classrooms, and at summer day camps. Children are given more than just care—they are given stepping stones for success, the chance to explore new interests, develop social skills, and build confidence.

Building Stronger Communities

A thriving community is built on a sense of belonging. In 2024, 72,137 members across 108 locations found belonging at the Y. From young families to active older adults, our facilities and programs provided a place for people to come together, share experiences, and build lasting relationships. Whether through group fitness classes, youth mentorship, or volunteer opportunities, the Y remains a pillar of support and engagement.

Promoting Health & Wellness

34,383 members worked toward better well-being through our fitness programs, discovering strength in movement, and support in community at the Y in 2024. With access to five fitness-equipped locations featuring state-of-the-art equipment, pools, and outdoor fitness spaces, members had everything they needed to pursue their health goals. But it’s about more than the facilities—it’s about the people. From the encouragement of a personal trainer to the camaraderie of a group exercise class, every moment spent at the Y helps individuals build confidence, resilience, and a commitment to lifelong wellness.

Strengthening Through Sports & Swim

Last year, 6,892 children discovered their potential through our youth sports programs. Whether it was learning to dribble on the basketball court, kicking their first soccer goal, or mastering the basics of swimming, every child gained skills that go far beyond the game. Sports at the Y are about more than competition; they’re about building character, fostering friendships, and instilling a love for an active lifestyle that lasts a lifetime.

Giving Back

The YMCA has always been more than a place—it’s a mission. In 2024, over $1.2 million was dedicated to community impact, ensuring that financial barriers never stood in the way of participation. Every dollar donated to the Y went directly toward strengthening the community, including providing scholarships for children’s programs and funding free community events that brought people together.

Looking Ahead

Each connection with the community is an opportunity to serve, support, and grow together. As the Y looks ahead to 2025, we are inspired by the opportunities that await and remain committed to strengthening our communities even further. Thank you for being part of the Y’s journey—together, we are making a difference!
