Pete Maxwell Congratulations Pete!
Personal Trainer Highlight Personal Trainer of the First Quarter

Pete's education includes 2 years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he competed on nationally ranked swimming and tennis teams followed by completion of a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish from Longwood University in Virginia in 1984. His personal training and teaching career started in 1995 when he became ACE certified & worked at The Spa Fitness Center in Costa Mesa for 6 years. He also received his SPIN certification in 1995 through Johnny G and gained invaluable experience working with an extremely professional clientele & staff working with general conditioning, obesity, high blood pressure & cancer patients as well as individuals seeking advanced training & regiments. In 2001, Pete came to the Newport-Mesa Family YMCA and was immediately involved with the tremendous array of fitness levels & demographics. He started the cycling program here and it continues to flourish today. In addition to assisting members in overall fitness needs, general conditioning & flexibility needs he is constantly working with weight loss issues, cardiovascular fitness, strength & core development. He continuously works with special populations including Alzheimer's, post cardiac & stroke patients and those with artificial hips, knees and shoulders. This work includes both land & water training and due to the emotional and psychological elements associated with these individuals; this has been his most challenging & fulfilling work.
