Curriculum

Jaime is very friendly to everyone and keeps her staff on task. I know that it is difficult to manage college kids. I also like that my child doesn't have to go on a bus or car to her after school care.

The environment is very positive, safe and welcoming for my child. She enjoys her time at the Y. She also looks forward to the planned activities.

I like that the staff's attitude is the same whether parents are present or not. I also like that when a problem arises the staff feel confident in how to address the issue.

The YMCA has helped me be a better person. I am better at mind, exercises, heights, and making friends., I've had the best time in my life! The most challenging thing was definitely the Rock Wall but the YMCA Camp Oakes program has helped me with my fears. The Y has helped me so much!

Karina Ruiz - SMITH FAMILY YMCA

I like to work at Smith YMCA because I have a great boss that would help me and others. I also like it because I like helping kids. I think the YMCA is a great place for kids to come because they get to meet friends and learn the 6 pillars and other fun things they have at the YMCA. My memories from the YMCA is when a child ask me how to spell YMCA; I thought it was funny and cute. I came back because I love my job. The YMCA had showed me how to help families out.

We like the structure. It's very easy to communicate with all staff with concerns. It's nice to have a scholarship for those in need.

Susan Herrera - ESTOCK FAMILY YMCA

I am a kindergarten teacher at Estock YMCA in the city of Tustin, California. I feel so lucky to work with my team staff members, Elizabeth Medina, Jessica and Vickey. They make me feel so welcome, show me patience and teach me new things every day. I feel I have been at the "Y" for years even though I've only been there for 6 months. This is my first time working with school age children and so far I learn from them every day. I'm thankful everyday for my job. I am happy and enjoy everything.

Camp is one of my favorite places to go. Here are some of the many reasons why. First of all when you're up at camp you are able to express yourself without being judged. I like that you're able to dance and sing all you want. I have been able to learn so much about myself and make new friends. Camp Oakes is like my home away from home. Thank you for letting me visit it year after year. It's my favorite thing to do every summer and hopefully every winter now too.

The YMCA is awesome because we get to play games and make stuff! I love to play games at the YMCA, the yard is cool and I could stay there all day. I like playing the Wii and pool.

Years ago I had a little boy in the program named Garrett Ewald, now called Garrett Ryan. He was a bright and funny child. He was caring and very respectful; he also really loved the YMCA. He ended up moving to the Peterson program where he grew to enjoy the YMCA even more through the years. He occasionally acted in small roles, commercials, and photo shoots, and he would always tell Tomia and me about these great opportunities. He is now going into the 7th grade, and came to visit Peterson and Moffett YMCA today to announce that he has a leading role playing Judy's best friend in the new Judy Moody move coming out tomorrow. He wanted to thank the Y and tell us how much he enjoyed his time here...refusing to say who was his favorite, Moffett or Peterson, ëcause you know I asked. :) Although he wanted to come and say thanks for all the support, he was kind enough to bring a movie booklet and sign autographs for all the kids at both sites.
